Accessibility Statement

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 are the World Wide Web Consortium’s standard for accessible web content, with three levels of conformance: A, AA and AAA. Level AA is the one we build this site against.

What we do

• Pages and tools are built to work with a keyboard, and links, buttons and fields show a visible focus outline. The first stop for a keyboard user is a “Skip to content” link.
• Text and controls are designed to meet WCAG contrast ratios in both the light and the dark theme.
• Every form field has a visible label. Errors are written out in text next to the field and announced to screen readers, never shown by color alone.
• Tap targets are designed to meet WCAG 2.2’s 24-pixel minimum, and most buttons and form controls are 44 pixels or taller.
• Results in the free tools update in a region screen readers announce, and the arithmetic behind each result is printed as text.
• Tables are real tables with captions and header cells.
• Animation and motion are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
• Images carry text alternatives, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
• Headings run in order, so the page outline makes sense to assistive technology.

Known limitations

• The photo mode of our card centering calculator is built around dragging guide lines over a photo. The guides can be nudged with the arrow keys, but it’s slow without a mouse or touch screen and hard to judge without seeing the photo. The same tool lets you type the four border measurements as numbers instead.
• Payment happens on Stripe’s checkout page, which Stripe builds and maintains. If it gives you trouble, text us and we’ll help.

We haven’t had an independent accessibility audit yet, so there may be problems we haven’t found. We don’t use an accessibility overlay widget; accessibility is built into the pages themselves.
